A ceremony preparing the making of the Gunungan " Wajik " is made of sticky rice cooked with sugar and coconut cream. Wajik and other ingredients to make the Gunungan are prepared in the Magangan hall at the Kraton back yard.
The moment the wajik is turned over on the big round wooden tray (the base for the Gunungan), people beat stimultaneously on the rice mountain. The heating of the rice mortars in the rhythmic and regular cadence is done on and on until Gunungan is completed. This ceremony starts at 03.00 pm.(Sultan Palace,Yogyakarta)
