An offshoot of The Wayang Wong dance drama is the modern popular Javanese theatre which takes its stories from popular folk legends and from history.
Like the Wayang Wong, the Ketoprak show accompanied by gamelan music but simpler in costumes and dialogue.
Performance can be seen in Jakarta at Gedung Kesenian Theatre every Wednesday and Thursday evening starting 08.00 pm.
